Dr. Erik Beckert received a Diploma in Precision Engineering in 1997, and a PhD in Opto-electronics System Integration in 2005, both from Technical University of Ilmenau, Germany. Since 2001 he works at the Fraunhofer-Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering (IOF) in Jena, Germany, where he is now the head of the department "Opto-mechatronical Components and Systems". He co-founded the company Quantum Optics Jena GmbH, supports the swedish company  company Nyfors Teknologi AB for the business development for fiber preparation equipment, and co-founded the company Photonics Foundry GmbH, where he also serves for design and business development for photonic assembly services.

Photonics Foundry GmbH was founded in 2023 for photonic assembly as a service, addressing customers that have innovative photonic product ideas, while lacking equipment, infrastructure and staff to meet market demands fast. The company offers, next to the contract assembly of hybrid and PIC-based photonic systems, also design for manufacturing services, an assembly process development and transfer to customer facilities. An emerging field of applications are quantum photonics systems, for which the company offers dedicated single photon expertise and equipment. 

Didier Guignard brings over 30 years of professional experience spanning leadership roles in strategic planning, research and development, product management, and systems analysis. Throughout his career, he has led multidisciplinary teams, overseen large‑scale technology programs, and supported organizations in aligning technical investments with business and strategic objectives. Drawing on deep expertise in quantum technologies, software engineering, and organizational strategy, Didier offers a practical, industry‑informed perspective particularly well suited to executive education and strategic decision‑making contexts. Didier holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Geneva (Switzerland).
