Quantum in Canada closed out 2025 on a high note. On December 15, the Canadian Quantum Champions Program (CQCP) earmarked $92 million in support of the commercialization of quantum technologies and their applications. The announcement demonstrates the importance of quantum as part of long-term economic resilience and protecting national sovereignty, emphasizing the need to keep quantum IP in Canada.

Lisa Lambert, CEO of Quantum Industry Canada, said: “Quantum technologies—computing, sensing and communications—are now understood as strategic infrastructure that will underpin economic competitiveness and national security for decades to come. The Canadian Quantum Champions Program is designed to ensure that Canada translates its early leadership in quantum computing into scalable, sovereign capability with long-term value. This is about not merely inventing the future but also building it here, in Canada.”
What does this mean for Canadian businesses? There’s a growing demand for quantum skills and knowledge across all industries to continue building the quantum ecosystem in Canada. To realize a global economic advantage, Canadian businesses must be able to not only keep up but to lead the quickly evolving field of quantum computing and quantum technology applications.
And while technology is critical, Canada’s quantum competitiveness depends on the talent that brings it to life.
At Qubo Consulting, we support business leaders in navigating emerging quantum technologies and increase quantum literacy by upskilling and retraining the workforce. Qubo is committed to fostering the quantum workforce by building a skilled community equipped to drive the Canadian quantum ecosystem forward.
